This summer, the Newport Folk Festival will return to Fort Adams State Park in Rhode Island for its 67th year. The legendary event will take place July 24th-26th. The Newport Folk Festival fosters moments of hope through the power of music and community. It provides a safe space for artists to express themselves and to gather with the fans at Fort Adams for the community, discovery, diversity, celebration, virtuosity and bonds that make up the very spirit of the Festival.
The Newport Folk Festival and its foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works to foster and enrich the musical lives of young people by offering free music lessons, summer programs, instruments and more. The organization has provided over 500 students with free lessons and distributed over 200 grants to music education programs in 38 states. This work is made possible by the Festival community and supporters.
Last year, the festival also established a new Newport Folk Steward position that would identify an artist to aid in supporting the creative community that makes up the Folk Family, and to consult on the direction of the programming. Nathaniel Rateliff completed his inaugural year last year, and will return this year as Newport Folk Festival’s artistic steward.

Best known for producing the Newport Jazz and Newport Folk Festivals, the Foundation spends the rest of the year working to create the next generation of musicians through music education and artist relief programs.
Thanks to the support of our community, NFF offers music programs in our own backyard of Newport, Rhode Island, including free private music lessons, instrument donations to public schools, jam sessions, and summer camps.
Nationally, NFF partners with festival artists to support music education programs they’re passionate about. Since 2018, the Artist Gives initiative has provided over 200 grants to music education programs in 38 states, including instruments for public schools, funding for music instruction workshops for Veterans, Girls Rock Summer camps, after-school music lessons for children with learning disabilities, and more.
The Newport Festivals Musician Relief Fund (MRF) provides financial relief to musicians who have experienced unexpected hardships such as theft, tour cancellation, and natural disasters. Resources from NFF and donations from individuals, foundations, and corporations have allowed the fund to help over 670 musicians.
